The Book
Robby Rae became an alcoholic the very first time he ever had a drink. What followed was a long and painful battle that shaped much of his early life, his relationships, and his sense of self. His upcoming book, What It Isn’t, tells the unfiltered story of that journey.
Through honest reflection and vivid storytelling, Robby shares how alcoholism took root, how it went unchecked for years, and how it affected the people he cared about most. The book traces his life from his teenage years in Iowa, through the Marine Corps, into adulthood, and eventually toward the moment he made the decision to reclaim his life.
This is not only a story about addiction. It is a story about love, growth, accountability, and the power of choosing a different path. Robby highlights the turning points that allowed him to break free from alcohol, the support that guided him, and the hard lessons that ultimately led to thirty five years of marriage, a close family, and a life centered around purpose and gratitude.
What It Isn’t is written for anyone who has struggled, anyone who loves someone in the grip of addiction, and anyone searching for hope. Robby’s message is simple. Recovery is possible. Change is possible. And no matter how far a person falls, their story is not finished until they decide it is.
Coming soon, this book offers an inspiring look at the man behind the journey and the life he built once he finally put the bottle down.

What it Isn't will be out in the Spring of 2026
