GoDaddy Years

In 2010, Robby Rae joined the very first training class for a new care center in Iowa at GoDaddy. He spent three years on the phones, building a close knit, family like atmosphere among his teammates. His natural leadership earned him the nickname “Mr. President,” a title given for the way he kept everyone motivated and supported their development as agents. The name stuck, and many of those colleagues still call him that to this day.

In 2013, Robby moved into leadership on the second shift, onboarding new hires and discovering how much he loved helping people grow. Working with newcomers, building their confidence, and sharing his enthusiasm became some of the most rewarding work of his career.

Robby later supervised a Hosting team for several months to deepen his technical understanding of hosting. As a challenge, the team built a WordPress site intentionally filled with errors to see whether he could identify them all. He did, instantly earning their trust and respect.

One of his most demanding responsibilities was bringing more than twenty new agents into the Productivity Department and overseeing their entire onboarding process. Out of the group, only two returned to inbound, a success rate that demonstrated his ability to develop, mentor, and retain new talent.

Among his proudest leadership moments was guiding a second shift team made up entirely of brand new agents. Under his supervision, the team rose to the top of the Iowa center for two consecutive months, proving what a motivated and well supported group could achieve.

Robby was later selected to become a GameChanger, a role focused on mentoring struggling supervisors. It was one of the greatest challenges of his career, yet he achieved the highest improvement scores among all six GameChangers, reinforcing his reputation for elevating others and inspiring transformation.

Rob Mellody, what you showed me during your time as my Supervisor I will never forget. Also the question you asked me “What do you want”? I said to be on 1st shift. Your response was let’s get to it then. This will stick with me forever. Thank you for giving me courage and talking me down when needed.
